Le M868 utilise un carburant sous haute pression à base de napalm et est capable de couvrir une grande zone, causant de lourds dégâts sur toutes les cibles et capable de brûler pendant une longue durée. Toutefois il faut toujours bien prendre soin que personne d'amical ne soit dans la zone de tir, surtout lorsque le lance-flammes est utilisé en déplacement.
