22A7-Z є прототипом стандартної штурмової гвинтівки 22A3, яка призначена для використання у міській місцевості, утримання натовпу і ведення вогню поблизу населених об’єктів. Досі перебуває на випробувальній стадії, але декілька екземплярів цієї моделі були надані МЗС для перевірки в бойових умовах. A7-Z оснащені пристроєм самонаведення та комплектом світлошумових гранат. У зв’язку зі складним калібруванням, що необхідне для роботи самонаведення, користуватися цією гвинтівкою можуть лише піхотинці із технічною підготовкою.
